Adding Offer source (Affiliate network / Advertiser) and Offer

General Information about Offer source

What is an Offer source in RedTrack?

Offer source is your affiliate network, your partner, direct advertiser, or your own products – someone who gives you the offers to promote. Offer source is the essential element in the campaign creation flow.

What is an Offer in RedTrack?

Offer is basically the product you are promoting. It can be your Affiliate Network offer, the offer provided by a direct Advertiser, or the product you want to promote on your own.

How do I add an Offer source and Offer to RedTrack?

There are two stages of adding an Offer:

1) Add Offer source to RedTrack. It can be added in one of the following ways:

  • from template: when your Offer source is an Affiliate Network / Partner / Advertiser. In such cases, you can make use of RedTrack Offer source templates with already preset data. For further details on this option, scroll down this guide to the section “Adding Offer source from the template”;
  • from scratch: when your Offer source is an Affiliate Network / Partner / Advertiser, but it hasn’t been integrated with RedTrack yet, has no template, and needs to be added customly. For further details on this option, scroll down this guide to the section “Adding a custom Offer source”;
  • from scratch by adding a custom Offer source (your offer): when you are promoting your own products and have no affiliate network or direct advertiser in your funnel. For further details on this option, scroll down this guide to the section “Adding a custom Offer source (your offers).”

2) Once the Offer source is added, add your Offer to RedTrack. For more details, scroll down this guide to the section “Adding an Offer.”

Adding Offer source from the template

To add an Offer source from the template, act as follows:

1. On the main RedTrack menu, click Offer sources -> choose the option New from template:

2. In the Offer Sources Catalog pop-up window, type in the name of your Offer source in search and press ADD:

3. Once the template is added, you can see that all the essential tracking parameters have already been filled in and the Postback URL has been generated:

4. Remember to adjust other settings the way you need and Save changes:

a. Click expiration
b. Postback protection
c. Duplicate postback settings

In case of several conversions created by the same click id, it is possible to decide what action will be performed to that duplicated postback. RedTrack suggests the following options:

  • Create a new conversion: duplicate postback data will be added as a separate conversion;
  • Ignore duplicate Postback: no data will be added to the tracking report;
  • Edit conversion with new data: the original conversion will be edited with new data;
  • Keep original data, increment payout: only conversion payout will be edited (for example, tracking subsequent sales for the same conversion).

d. Whitelist IPs (only conversions from the approved  IPs will be received)

e. Currency

5. Copy the generated Postback URL and paste it to your Affiliate Network’s global postback settings:

Adding a custom Offer source

In case your Affiliate Network or Advertiser is missing from the templates list, add it in a custom manner as follows:

1. On the main RedTrack menu, click Offer sources -> choose the option New from scratch:

2. Fill in the required fields. The most important ones are:

  • name of your Affiliate Network
  • such Postback parameters as CLICKID and SUM. Add the parameters your Affiliate Network supports (can be clarified with your Account Manager in case you are not sure). Once you add the parameters to the corresponding fields, they will be added to your Postback URL:

3. Adjust other settings the way you need and Save changes:

a. Click expiration
b. Postback protection
c. Duplicate postback settings

In case of several conversions created by the same click id, it is possible to decide what action will be performed to that duplicated postback. RedTrack suggests the following options:

  • Create a new conversion: duplicate postback data will be added as a separate conversion;
  • Ignore duplicate Postback: no data will be added to the tracking report;
  • Edit conversion with new data: the original conversion will be edited with new data;
  • Keep original data, increment payout: only conversion payout will be edited (for example, tracking subsequent sales for the same conversion).

d. Whitelist IPs (only conversions from the approved  IPs will be received)

e. Currency

4. Copy the generated Postback URL and add it to your Affiliate Network / Advertiser global postback settings.

Adding a custom Offer source (your offers)

In case you are promoting your own products and have no Affiliate Network or direct Advertiser in your funnel, you will also need to add the Offer source to RedTrack with a small difference in the settings. To do that, act as follows:

1. On the main RedTrack menu, click Offer sources -> choose the option New from scratch:

2. Since it’s your product, you do not need to add any tracking parameters (CLICKID and SUM), just the name of your Offer:

3. Adjust other settings the way you need and Save changes:

a. Click expiration
b. Postback protection
c. Duplicate postback settings

In case of several conversions created by the same click id, it is possible to decide what action will be performed to that duplicated postback. RedTrack suggests the following options:

  • Create a new conversion: duplicate postback data will be added as a separate conversion;
  • Ignore duplicate Postback: no data will be added to the tracking report;
  • Edit conversion with new data: the original conversion will be edited with new data;
  • Keep original data, increment payout: only conversion payout will be edited (for example, tracking subsequent sales for the same conversion).

4. If you want to track conversion data automatically, you can use the conversion tracking pixel on your “Thank you” page.

Adding an Offer

Once you have added the Offer source, you are free to add your Offer. To do that, act as follows:

1. On the main RedTrack menu, click Offers -> choose the option New:

2. Set the name of your Offer in the Offer name field, select the Offer source -> Set the Payout (if you have a static payout) and put/paste the URL:

3. If you plan to use some caps on your offer, you can set the rules here as well:

4. If you are working with an Affiliate network / Advertiser who can provide the S2S postback option, the most important thing is to add the click id parameter to your offer URL. For preset templates, the correct parameter is available in the “click id” section:

You need to add it to your offer without placeholders:

If it is your own product, you can add the URL without any additional parameters and ignore the warning message you will have under your offer.
